7/31/2023 0 Comments Flip4mac wmvHow many Macs are we talking about here? Maybe they have a volume license discount? I believe you can still download the older version for free on some of those software download websites (here's one), but I don't know if it'll work with the latest version of OS X Mavericks. The software was free for years, and only recently did they start charging ~$5/license. If you absolutely cannot do anything about the WMV files, I would bite the bullet and pay for Flip4Mac. Ditching the WMV files now will save yourselves the headaches they'll cause when you upgrade the schools' hardware to something more modern later on down the road. If Clickview is the problem, then consider replacing it. Convert them into something friendlier, re-import them into Clickview, and then it'll just be easier for everyone. Instead of installing software on each of the Macs to playback the files, go to the source of the problem: the WMV files. WMV has been a dying format for the better part of the last decade - even Microsoft has essentially abandoned it for new, more modern standards (especially those that are cross-platform, browser-neutral, and work on mobile). The problem here isn't the Macs' inability to playback the WMV files, but rather the WMV files themselves. WMV? I feel like I've stepped into a time machine and gone back 10-15 years.
